What are your thoughts on Wednesdays? I get why people dread the middle of the week (kind of), but I always just try to look at it like yay, we’re halfway done! Maybe I’m just a glass half full kind of girl…sooo to help fight your mid-week struggles I’m sharing a really fun outfit with you (in my totally un-biased opinion). I stopped in my local J. Crew the other day and am loving some of the stuff they currently have (however there were also a few very questionable pieces…like a button-down shirt turned bodysuit…yeah). Well, maybe you don’t think that’s so weird, but I never really hopped on the bodysuit train, and don’t think I will anytime soon. Anyway! I styled two pieces I picked up from J. Crew to share with you guys, and then gathered up some of my other favorite pieces J. Crew currently has, which you can click through below. Let me know what you think!
This wrap top comes in tan/white stripes and blue/white stripes. I feel like you can’t go wrong with either, but I ended up opting for the tan/white, and love it! I’m wearing an xs and could have probably even gone with the xxs, but I think the xs works especially since the top is completely adjustable with however much you decide to wrap it. Instead of just going for a pair of blue or white jeans, which I was veryyy tempted to do here, I stepped outside my comfort zone with these grey chinos. The fit of these pants is a bit unusual, they’re slightly cropped (I’m 5’5’’) and remind me of a boot-cut. I can’t remember the last time I bought something boot-cut! I haven’t tried these chinos yet with flats (I’m thinking either my Supergas or Sperrys), but since I wanted to keep this a little dressier of a look I opted for my Louise et Cie heels, and the taupe color works perfectly with all the neutrals in this outfit.
Lastly, I cannot say enough good things about this Forever 21 coat my mom snagged a few years ago. She loves Forever 21 and is always amazed how much you can get without breaking the bank. Each time she goes there always seems like the first time, especially when she comes home and shows me her haul, adding with each piece she holds up “and look Helen, only $20!” She’s right though, as much as I stand by my quality over quantity, I can’t deny that some of the Forever 21 pieces we have, have lasted us a long time. Years even! This coat isn’t something my mom or I wear often, since it’s definitely more of a statement piece, but even still it’s held up great! I’ve linked some similar ones below at both low and higher price points, since the jacket is unfortunately a few years old.
top: J. Crew • pants: J. Crew • sunglasses: Tory Burch • shoes: Louise et Cie (exact, similar) • crossbody: La Regale (old, similar) • coat: Forever 21 (similar here, here, here)
