Hi there! If you’re tired of the same old sub-par shave then this article is for you! I spent months testing out both the Billie & Flamingo razors on a quest to find the best shave! It all started back in September 2019, I finally got tired of my overpriced, low-quality razors and decided to hit “subscribe” to Billie’s razors. I was really happy with the Billie razor, but curious about this other brand I’d heard a lot about, Flamingo. After a month of using my Billie razor I decided to conduct a test to find out which of these two razor brands was really the best! Keep reading to find out ALL about the Billie and Flamingo razors, what I think after testing them both out for months, and which one provides the best shave!
Both of these razors are awesome! Regardless of which one you order, I know you’ll be happy with your decision. (And it’ll definitely be better than your current razor.) I went back and forth so many times over the past months trying to decide which one was my favorite, and I think I finally have!

My favorite part of the Billie razor is how the blades are completely surrounded by charcoal soap. This feature provides so much soothing moisturizer that I’ve actually been able to shave my legs without shaving cream! While I don’t suggest you try that unless you’re in a bind, I really wanted to put these razors to the test and I figured that was a great way to do so! It was crazy to me how I didn’t get razor burn even without using shaving cream. That’s how moisturizing the razor head is. [Insert happy dance here!]
After months of trying both, I think Billie razor blades are sharper than Flamingo razor blades. And while I do LOVE my Billie razor, I often find it difficult to grip the handle as it gets slippery very easily.
A cool feature with the Billie razor is that it comes with a “magic holder.” The magic holder attaches to your shower wall with some 3-M putty. It’s really easy to do, trust me! PRO TIP: make sure when attaching the “magic holder” to the wall that the shower is completely dry. If it’s not completely dry then it might have trouble sticking.
As for price, you get 2 blades, the “magic holder”, and the handle for $9 (+ free shipping!). This is a slightly better deal than the Flamingo razor. I’ll explain more on that below!

Like the Billie razor, the Flamingo also has 5 blades and a pretty similar design/aesthetic. My favorite part to the Flamingo razor is how the handle is weighted so it doesn’t slip out of your hand while using. This might seem silly or like an insignificant detail, but it actually makes such a difference!
The biggest difference between the Flamingo’s razor and the Billie razor is that the Billie is surrounded 360 degrees by its charcoal soap, while the Flamingo is only surrounded approximately 180 degrees by its aloe bar. The aloe bar soothes and moisturizes your skin while shaving, which is why I kind of wish it completely surrounded the razor blades. For best use, I usually have to hold the razor head under hot water for 30 seconds or so to get the aloe bar to soften/start working. Again, that’s just my experience! But when I just wet the razor head quickly and start using it, I don’t get as good of a shave.
The Flamingo kit that I picked up at Target came with an extra razor head and a suction holder to have it hang on the side of your shower. The holder works great and I love how convenient it makes storing my Flamingo razor! Unfortunately I can’t remember the exact cost of my kit that I got at Target.
As for online prices, you get 1 handle and 1 blade for $9. The same price as Billie’s package above, but you don’t get as much stuff. I don’t think the suction holder comes with this option, which is a little disappointing. You also don’t get the spare blade that comes with Billie’s starter kit. With that being said though, Flamingo’s shave cream and lotion are less expensive than Billie’s.
If you’re just looking at the quality of shave you get from each razor, then I’d have to go with Billie. I don’t think the Flamingo razor gives me as close of a shave as the Billie razor does. With that being said though, and when weighing all the factors, it gets to be a much closer call. As I already said, I really love how the Flamingo razor handle is weighted, it makes shaving much easier. However, I also really love the charcoal soap that surrounds the Billie razor blades. Ah! Not an easy decision, but yes, in the end I prefer the Billie razor.
I also have been using Billie’s shave cream and body lotion over the past couple of months. I never bought Flamingo’s shaving cream or lotion, so I can’t speak to those unfortunately. As for Billie’s shave cream, it’s a really great product. It isn’t easy to get out of the bottle, but apart from that I really like it. As for the body lotion, I keep it on my bedside table because I love putting it on my hands and feet before I go to sleep.

Any chance you tried seeing if the Billie razor replacements fit on the Flamingo?
Any chance you tried the Billie razor head to see if it fit in the Flamingo Handle?
What a great idea! I haven’t, but if I find my Billie razor heads I will try this and report back! My initial instinct though is they won’t fit…
