Hello hello! I got to hang out with my Aunt Laura and Aunt Linda this weekend and it was so nice to see them! My Aunt Laura reminded me of my Drug Store Foundation blog post from a while back, which inspired me to update you guys on my current makeup routine! Keep reading for my tried and true Makeup Routine To Cover Up Acne And Acne Scars. It’s working wonders for me and I think it can for you too!
*Honestly, I feel like this foundation duo would work wonders for almost all skin types, not just people with oily skin and acne scars. If you’re not in love with your current makeup routine, give these foundations a try! It’ll cost you less than $20 and that’s money well spent in my opinion if it helps you look & feel your best!
If you have acne or acne scars, hi, I see you. After struggling with cystic acne for SO many years I’ve finally gotten to the point where I can put a full face of makeup on and walk out of the house and feel good about myself. Currently I don’t suffer from cystic acne, but my skin still isn’t perfect. I still get pimples here and there and my acne scars are still very visible. (Side Note: I partnered with Modern Dermatology of Connecticut a year or so ago and Dr. Klein helped me so much with reducing my acne scarring. There is SUCH a difference between then and now, but it hasn’t all gone away.)
Alrighty, so now let’s talk about my current makeup routine and why it’s amazing for me and why I think it’ll be amazing for you too!
First off, I have to credit my sister with sharing this foundation duo with me. (Hi Katherine!) Actually, I have to credit her entirely with getting me on the drugstore foundation train in the first place. I never would have switched from my $50 bottle of foundation to drugstore foundation if not for her!
So anyway, a year or so ago my sister introduced me to THIS L’Oreal drugstore foundation and I’ve never turned back. Around the holidays this year I noticed that Katherine was using a different drugstore foundation and of course, nosey me, I had to try it out for myself. She said she stopped using the L’Oreal foundation because it was drying her skin out too much. Instead, she switched to THIS Covergirl foundation and loved it for many reasons, including that it contained sunscreen!
I tried the Covergirl foundation on its own, but it didn’t keep me as matte as I wanted to be after a long day. I did love the coverage and the sunscreen component though! So this is when I decided to become a foundation mixologist. Ha! I combined my L’Oreal foundation with my sister’s Covergirl foundation and VOILA! Magic.
Combining these two foundations together created the ultimate foundation for covering up my acne and acne scars. I achieved a matte look all day long without drying out my skin. I also had effortlessly added sunscreen into my makeup routine (since it’s built into the Covergirl foundation). And most importantly for me, the coverage for my acne and acne scars was even better than before!
Yet another bonus to my foundation duo? I can completely customize my color! One of the bottles I buy in 1 shade darker than my normal, and the other bottle I buy in 1 shade lighter than my normal. Combined in the right ratio I’m able to achieve my perfect shade every time! The basis of my makeup routine to cover up my acne & acne scars is under $20. On top of my foundations, I use THIS powder. It’s not drugstore, but it’s worth the couple of extra bucks in my opinion!
Let me know what you think about my makeup routine that covers up my acne and acne scars! What foundation do YOU swear by? I’d love to know!
