This might be a first! My Friday blog post is going live Thursday night because I’m too excited to wait and share with you my 2018 Greenwich Sidewalk Sale Guide! If you’re new here, hi! I hope you find this useful, and hopefully you take a minute to check out what else Style Inherited has to offer. Alright- now to the good stuff! I spent more than 5 hours at the Greenwich Sidewalk Sale and didn’t even get to all the stores, ah! Okay, truth be told I took an hour lunch break with my mom, but even still four hours of non-stop shopping is quite the task!
Here’s the Chambers of Commerce website for parking and other info regarding The Greenwich Sidewalk Sale, but hopefully you’ll find out plenty of info below!
I would say 85-90% of stores on Greenwich Ave participate in Greenwich Sidewalk Sale Days in some way or another. Even some restaurants participate, so if you’re looking to do lunch or an early dinner on the ave, call ahead and see what potential deals you’ll score! Keep in mind, there are TONS more stores participating (over 120 to be exact!), these are just the ones that I checked out yesterday, and if they have a * next to it then I think they’re definitely worth your time! (Keep scrolling past this list for my BEST TIPS AND TRICKS for being successful at the #GSS2018 !!

-Use a tote bag or crossbody bag (I used a crossbody bag and it was perfect) that way you can sling your bag over your shoulder or across your body and don’t have to worry about setting it down or it getting in the way.
-Bring a water bottle. Without a doubt you’re going to spend more time at the Sidewalk Sales than you anticipated, so stay hydrated that way you can shop till you drop with no interruptions! If you don’t feel like carrying a water bottle, than stay hydrated by stopping into The Granola Bar (I love their peach lemonade), or Aux Delices (they have plenty of cold drink options!)
-Don’t wear makeup OR earrings. This year it’s going to be hot and you’re going to be trying on so many different things, makeup is just going to get stains on the clothing you try on and you don’t want to worry about ripping your earring out of your earlobe either. You don’t have to dress to impress. It’s hot out, you’re going to be sweaty. Just accept that now!
-Arrive early. The earlier you get to Greenwich Ave the better. I think stores open around 10:00am, so my best suggestion would be to get to Greenwich around 9:00am, find a parking spot behind CVS (that’s where the 12 hour parking is located), then grab a quick bite to eat at CFCF or Starbucks or even sit down and have a crepe at Meli-Melo.
-Gameplan/set intentions. What stores do you want to hit up? What is it that you really need? Are you dying to buy a pair of Rag and Bone denim, but never willing to spend full price? DON’T show up to #GSS2018 with no idea what you’re looking for. At the very least lay in bed the night before and think about what things your wardrobe/home/life is missing. Do you need shoes? Do you need soap? Do you need athletic clothes? Figure it out. That’s a good starting place. Or what stores do you typically shop at? Make a mental list, or write it down. Whatever you do, at least have a somewhat of a plan going into it!
-Accept the fact that it’s going to be crowded. Don’t be one of those people that gets pissed off each time someone bumps into them on the sidewalk on in a store. Helloooo it’s Greenwich Sidewalk Sale Days! What do you expect?! It’s going to be hectic and crazy. Consider this your warning.
-If you have time, walk up and down the ave before doing any shopping. This way you can see what stores are having sales, what looks good, what doesn’t, and most of all, you don’t want to spend $100 on a straw hat that’s final sale and then see one that’s only $25 at a place a block away! Yes this actually happened to me today, well, I didn’t buy the straw hat, but I spotted three different ones that were basically all the same, but all at different price points!
-If you live nearby, walk. I live about a 15 minute walk away from The Ave and it was so.much.better to just walk there! A) you give people the opportunity to get parking who don’t have the option to walk (ie. they drove here from Westport or something), and B) you don’t have the stress of dealing with a parking meter and finding a parking spot in the first place!
