Hi people! Happy Monday! I’ve been dying to share this with you the past few days now, and while I consider straying from my usual M/W/F schedule, I decided to stick to posting this on Monday rather than giving into temptation and surprising you all with a weekend post! Anywayyy, drum roll please….I moved!! I’m sharing ROUGH photos of my apartment, which needs a lot of work still to make it homey and respectable (right now it’s just a hot mess). As you can tell, I didn’t go out of my way to clean/tidy up at all before taking these photos. Oops? Actually, I did that on purpose because I wanted you to see it in its raw state only two days after moving in.
Long story short, I was living with my parents for the past year and loving it!! But eventually they felt like maybe it was time for me to leave the nest? Meh. I wasn’t on board! If you’ve met my parents you know how cool they are and you wouldn’t blame me for not wanting to move/leave them!! Lucky for me the universe worked out in my favor and my parents/I have the best of both worlds! We’re living in two separate apartments that are in the same house. It’s a really charming 2 family house in walking distance of Greenwich Ave (priorities), so you know I’m in heaven! I love the fact that I still have my parents close by, but I’m also getting a sense of living on my own. In full disclosure though, I lived by myself three of my four years of college, so I kind of feel like all that time spent by myself studying finally caught up to me and that’s why now I never want to be alone! Can you blame me? Ha, I realize not everyone is like me, but I’m definitely a little clingy and am a needs social interactions kind of person.
I have BIG plans for this tiny apartment, but I love it! It has so much character and I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot already, aside from the fact that I failed to make my bed this morning. Ah! I swear I usually make my bed every morning, I just have been exhausted/busy moving the past few days. Enough excuses!
Keep an eye out for the finished product! I can’t wait to share what this place looks like once it’s all cleaned up and organized and actually has a kitchen table, a bar cart, and hmm what other super important things am I missing here? Notice how bar cart falls under the category of “super important things.” Speaking of important! Moving into my first place definitely counts as a special occasion, which prompted me to open up a bottle of wine I’d been saving since what feels like forever!
For my 21st Birthday my parents and I went out East and toured a bunch of vineyards. We had the most fun at Bedell and bought a few cases of wine, oops! We drank our way through the first case and a half pretty quickly, but I made sure to save a few bottles for special occasions, like landing my first job out of college, getting my first place, you get the idea! So of course I kept to my promise and much to my parents’ delight we opened up our favorite bottle from the Bedell trip: a 2013 Cabernet Franc, which is AMAZING! It’s actually more amazing than you can imagine. So now I’m in heaven because I’m drinking this amazing bottle of wine, but I’m also so sad because that means it will be gone soon! Oh no!!!
Well, have fun scrolling through these raw, unedited, untouched photos of my first place! I can’t wait to show you what it looks like when I’ve actually put some time into cleaning it up!
