Happy New Year! I ended up going to a New Year’s Eve party this year and had such a blast! Remarkably, I woke up yesterday morning without a hangover. Yay me! After a lazy morning, I took Ranger to the beach, cleaned my apartment, and worked on my travel list for 2019!! If you’ve been following along for a while then you know 2018 was a huge travel year for me and I’m hoping 2019 will be just the same! I’m sharing below where I traveled in 2018 and although nothing is set in stone yet, my 2019 wishlist!
My 2018 Travel:
Belize – My family and I kicked off the new year with a trip to Belize in January. It. Was. Incredible. Belize, I hope to visit you again soon! We split our time between the jungle (stayed at the Gaia Resort) and Placencia, which was the most charming little beach town ever (stayed at a VRBO). Read all about Belize here & here!
Guatamala – While in Belize we did a day trip to Guatemala to see the Tikal ruins. Tikal was nothing like I’ve ever experienced or seen before. Unlike Tulum (in Mexico) you’re allowed to climb the ruins and explore freely!
Boston, MA – My boyfriend was up in Cambridge, MA for the first half of 2018. I had so much fun going up on weekends and exploring Boston. Side note: I wrote a post about my favorite hot chocolate place EVER- linked here!
Asheville, NC – In March my parents and I flew to Asheville for a few days to celebrate my sister’s 21st birthday! We did a brewery crawl, went hiking, crashed a trivia night (and almost won), and of course went to The Biltmore! Read about the trip here!
Ocracoke, NC – I loved the time I was able to spend with my Grandma this year! And I also love how quiet the island is off-season.
Roanoke, VA – I stopped by my alma mater to visit with college friends and for my first Alumni Weekend. It was a blast! Can’t wait for next April!
Boulder, CO- Trips to Boulder always include lots of hiking, relaxing, exploring downtown Pearl Street, and amazing food! I was lucky enough to make it out to Colorado 3 times this year!
Steamboat Springs, CO – It’s always fun to head up to High Country for a few days while we’re in Boulder to explore new towns and to get some new hiking trails under our shoes! Steamboat did not disappoint and I wrote about it all here!
Longboat Key, FL – I flew down to Florida for a few days to hang out with my Aunt Cathy, my cousins, and to have the beach all to myself! No really, I was the only one relaxing on the beach and I’ve got to say, I think I figured it out! Sure it’s hot as heck in the summer, but there are no crowds! Blog post about my Florida trip is here!
Boulder, CO – Back for more hiking and exploring!
Lebanon, VA – Not so much a vacation, but perhaps one of my favorite trips ever! I drove down to Virginia to pick up Ranger. It was a long drive, but I’d do it a thousand times for my little puppy.
Ocracoke, NC – Brought Ranger to meet my Grandma and they clicked! My Grandma and Ranger are best friends and have so much fun together!
Kent, CT – I love little road trips, and this one with my mom and Ranger up to Kent was a blast! We got to explore the cute little Main Street of Kent, see some covered bridges, and even stumbled upon a waterfall!
Manchester, VT – Part 1 to my 2 part VT birthday trip was a quick stop in Manchester. Check out my blog post about our experience here!
Woodstock, VT – Part 2 to my VT trip was staying over at the Woodstock Inn, which was incredible, going to the Simon Pierce flagship store, learning to make maple syrup, and countless covered bridges! Hoping to make this a birthday tradition! Read about our 48 hour trip here.
Jamaica – I LOVED every second of our Jamaica trip. This was my first time staying at an all-inclusive and I can’t say enough good things about it. For more details, check out my blog post here!
Boulder, CO – A fun Thanksgiving in Colorado (and my first time there not during the summer!)
New Orleans, LA – My family and I closed out the year with a quick 3-day trip to New Orleans in December. We had a blast and my travel guide for NOLA will be up soon!
Ocean Isle Beach, NC – Christmas with my family in NC has become one of my most treasured traditions. Do I miss white Christmases? Not for a second!
Well, I think that about rounds up all my travel for this year! Let’s see if I can beat it in 2019!
My 2019 Travel Wishlist:
I’m including new destinations and places I’d like to revisit this year.
Longboat Key, FL
Waco, TX
Las Vegas, NV
Israel (if I can go through the Birthright program)
What not Miami!
Oh my gosh, thanks for the reminder! Adding that now!
