Hi guys! I’m heading back from Roanoke, VA today and looking forward to all the travel coming up in the next few weeks! First stop Vermont, then Jamaica, then Colorado! Eek!! [Also I should say, I took these photos back when I was visiting my Grandma in North Carolina- so not from the event the other night.]
The reason for my trip down to Virginia was to attend the President’s Evening gala, an annual event held by the college to celebrate the Roanoke College donors. I love staying involved with my alma mater and donating back to a school that gave me so much over my four. years there. I’m a huge believer in the act is more important than the amount. My donations aren’t anything crazy, but they’re what I can give now and that’s what matters!
dress: Gal Meets Glam • bag: Manolo Blahnik (old) • shoes: similar Louise et Cie (I wore different ones to the event!)
Anyway! I had plenty of dress options to wear to President’s Evening because I worked the event as student (I worked as the assistant to the Director of Special Events, which was such a fun job! Hi Sally!). I didn’t want to rewear any of those options though, all of which were black (to help me blend into the event I was working, no need for me to stand out) so instead, I opted for something 100% me– this Gal Meets Glam dress!
If you’ve been following along with Style Inherited for some time now then you know I love Julia of Gal Meets Glam! When she came out with her Gal Meets Glam dress collection I’d like to think I was up there on the list of *most excited people* !! I mean, I’d been following along with Julia’s blog for years and her blog was one of the reasons why I was inspired to start my own!
I love this Gal Meets Glam Collection dress because it’s the perfect balance of classic and unique. It’s flirty and fun, but it’s also incredibly conservative and perfect for formal events. Most of all, I feel like it describes my personality perfectly with the fabric and dress design. Have you ever found a piece of clothing that just totally matched you as a person? Needless to say, I not only loved how this dress looked, but I felt so comfortable and confident in it! It has pockets, need I say more?!
Back to talking about President’s Evening though… I had such a great time with my friends Fran, Catie, and Catie’s mom (hi Mrs. Pannill!). I also loved seeing all of the staff I used to work with while attending Roanoke, and of course all the alumni/friends of the college who I had the pleasure of getting to know while working these events in the past!
Hope you have a great week!
