Hello hello friends and Happy Wednesday! Over the past year I’ve been really working on making cleaner, more sustainable choices. I feel like everyone has their own definition of what being more environmentally mindful means to them, and that’s totally fine in my opinion! It’s not a competition, at least it shouldn’t be. We should all be celebrating each other’s little and not-so-little victories when it comes to reducing our impact. Without further ado, today I’m really excited to share the sustainable swap I made that’s saving me money! Yes, really!!
While I’m proud of my mindful steps forward, I realize some of you might be reading this rolling your eyes (hi, I see you!). Okay, yes, I drive a Range Rover and yes I could instead be driving a Prius, or Tesla, or literally any other car out there, but here I am. #notperfect. My goal personally is to continue to make small changes. Think about if everyone made small changes, now THAT would make a big difference.
Alrighty, now that I’ve bored you all with my TedTalk, let’s look at my sustainable swap and how much money I’m saving!
For the past 5-6 years I used Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes at the end of each day. Honestly, they’re the only things I found that worked to remove ALL my makeup. I was never able to get my makeup off completely with just a cleanser, and other makeup remover options didn’t seem to work for me either. A couple of weeks ago I learned about these Bamboo Baby Wash Cloths and will never look back! These bamboo wash cloths are made from natural & organic bamboo fibers, they’re SUPER soft, and only $10!!
All I have to do is wet the wash cloth with warm water and gently wipe off my makeup. Sometimes I’ll add some of my Tula Cleanser onto the wash cloth before removing makeup and that works just as well too! Then I go back and cleanse my face with this cleanser. It’s been such a game changer for me! I’ll never go back!
Okay, math time! If 25 wipes come in 1 package, I’ll avoid using approx. 12 packs of Neutrogena makeup remover wipes this year. I usually buy my wipes at CVS, where they cost $7.50. So this year alone I’ll save $80, which factors in the initial investment of buying the $10 pack of 8 bamboo wash cloths. That’s not bad guys! $80 is 4 sushi lunches, or a date night, or a trip to the grocery store. Yay me!
Here’s the crazy thing to think about, which is that I’ve probably spent close to $500 over the past 6 years on buying these Neutrogena wipes. WOW! So 6 years from now I’ll have to treat myself to something nice! Ha! Way more importantly though, in 6 years I should celebrate how this one little step minimized my impact and I avoided throwing away close to 2,000 wipes. Yay me!
In case you’re curious, I recently changed up my morning & night time skincare routine. I’ve been using these Tula products for the past couple of weeks and am really liking them! Stay tuned for a full review on them soon!
