Happy Wednesday from Boulder, CO! I’m loving it here…as expected! This is my third time out here (my first time being this exact same week last year) and nothing about Boulder has gotten old! I’ll talk more about Boulder though in my trip guide/recap sometime next week. Speaking of which-what format do you find most helpful for travel recaps/travel guides? I’d love to know! I always find it difficult when sharing my trips with you to find the best way to share everything I did without overloading you with details and information. No wonder why it ins’t easy being a travel writer!
Back to fashion though… you know me, I’m always late to trends and that’s mostly because I’m so reluctant to hop on board. I’m more more comfortable sticking to classic and timeless styles rather than buying items that will just go out of style with the season. So anyway, I finally hopped on the corset dress ban-wagon and fun story: my mom actually bought me a corset dress two years ago from Zara and I was like, umm, what is this?! Reason #75 why I should always listen to my mom…and yet another example of how my mom somehow finds herself ahead of trends time and time again!
dress: J.O.A (similar below) • heels: Prada (old) • bag: Amazon (only $19!!) • earrings: Sparkle and Whim
I do want to share that the reason I finally decided to add a corset dress to my wardrobe was two-fold, I just really liked the details of the dress and it was such a great price! So many bloggers say don’t invest in trends, and they’re right! Invest in classic pieces that you can rely on never going out of style. When it comes to trends, I’m going to be shopping at Zara or H&M or somewhere inexpensive in order to not break the bank on a piece that is fleeting.
Let’s talk details- the subtle pastel stripes along with the ruffle sleeves of this dress are what initially caught my eye. After a little contemplation I realized I actually loved how flattering the corset front was! I mean, this is the cutest fit and flare dress I’ve seen in a while! And again, this dress is only $30! How can you go wrong?! I’ve ordered through Shopbop a few times in the past, and didn’t think anything of it, but now, after this past Shopbop Sale I’m sold! Shopbop, you have a new, loyal customer here!
Alright quick side note here- my earrings are from such a cute online boutique, Sparkle and Whim! Meg, who runs S&W, was so sweet in helping me pick out a pair of statement earrings that would be perfect to share with you all here! These have easily become my new favorite pair of earrings, they’re so lightweight, and the neutral straw goes with everything! They’ll be perfect to transition into fall with! (Not that I’m excited for fall…because I’m not!)
