Wow this week FLEW by for me! Between making lots of decision for the renovation and taking a quick mid-week trip to upstate New York, I really had my work cut out for me. Today’s blog post is super specific and one I’ve been meaning to share for a while now. 100% of the credit for this post goes to my mom, who has been reminding me to write it for the past couple of months. Thanks Mom! Instead of spending hundred of dollars on the Gucci belt everyone has (half of which are probably fake… just saying!), I’m sharing an even better alternative that won’t break the bank and will never go out of style. Promise! Keep reading to learn more about the classic statement belt your closet needs!
To be completely honest with you guys, I’m not a HUGE belt person. Do I like belts? Yes. Do I love THIS belt that I’m sharing with you today? Totally. But do I have a closet full of belts? No. In fact, I only have 2 belts in my closet (this being one of them) and I really don’t need more than that.
My two cents (which is very much influenced by my mom’s two cents) is that the Gucci belts aren’t here to stay. They’re everywhere these days and I’m kind of tired of seeing them. Maybe I’m the only one who feels this way… I have no interest though in spending that much on a belt though. I mean, $100 for this belt is an investment in my book, but it’s certainly worth the money. What I love about my J.McLaughlin belt is that A) it’s reversible. How cool?! And B) it’s timeless. The bamboo gold buckle is never going to go out of style.
The belt itself goes with everything. It’s basically two belts in one (navy on one side, ivory on the other) and I love how easy it is to swap one color for the other. All you have to do is pop the buckle off, turn it around, and you’re in business! (P.S. the belt comes in lots of other color combos). Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, you don’t see anyone else wearing this belt. I get so many compliments on it each time I wear it and I think that might be in large part because it’s refreshing to see a statement belt that is classic, classy, and not two large G’s.
Next week check back here for some of my first holiday gift guides of the season. I know it’s early, [insert eye rolls here] but lat year so many of you guys told me how helpful they were so I want to make sure I put them out with plenty of time for you to use them! My goal this year is to not wait until the last minute to do everything, especially since I’ll be gone the entire second half of November. So here’s to planning ahead and lots of to-do lists!
