The Kentucky Derby is almost here! It’s May 5th and while coverage goes on basically all afternoon, the most exciting two minutes in sports is at 6:46pm sharp! It’ll be worth it to start watching around 6:00pm though, and if you’re at a derby party/if you’re throwing a derby party then I suggest you have it on in the background the whole time!
I have to credit my love for the Kentucky Derby to my Aunt Laura and my cousin Adrianna. (love you!) They’re the ones who started throwing a Derby Party years ago and it’s been a tradition ever since! We do the obnoxious hats, fun dresses, the speciality cocktails, really the whole nine yards!
I’ve rounded up some looks that I think would make perfect dresses for the Kentucky Derby, whether you’re watching at home on your couch, at a derby party, or if you’re traveling to watch it in Kentucky! And of course you can’t be derby ready without a proper derby hat! So here are a few of my favorite options as well…which can also double as beach hats, because who really is going to buy a hat just for the derby? Not me! Pink Hat // Classic Hat // Striped Hat
And while these dresses have been pulled for the “derby roundup,” all of the below are pieces you’d be able to wear time and time again this spring! Need I list some other events? Bridal showers, baby showers, Sunday brunch, church, rehearsal dinners, date nights, the list goes on! You might notice I’m partial to gingham, blue and white stripes, soft floral patterns, and the occasional embroidery! What do you do for the Kentucky Derby?? Or are you planning on celebrating Cinco de Mayo instead?
