Dreams really do come true! I’ve been a fan of Gray Malin for at least the last decade, if not longer. (Proof here) So you can imagine the happy dance I did around my office when Ruggable reached out wanting me to create content for their upcoming Ruggable x Gray Malin collaboration. File under: pinch me moments! I’m so excited to finally be able to share with you my Gray Malin inspired screened-in porch refresh! Our screened-in porch has always been my favorite room in the house. Once it warms up outside, it turns into my office and I basically live exclusively in this space. That’s why heading into this summer I knew the space and the furniture in it seriously needed a refresh. Now I get to share the final product of my Gray Malin inspired screened-in porch!
Check out this rug! My Gray Malin Palm Beach Powder Blue Rug in size 9×12 pulls the entire space together and truly makes this screened-in porch feel like a coastal oasis. This is the classic low pile option, which is recommended for around dining areas/under furniture. I love the fact that this is a washable rug since people are constantly coming in from the pool through this space. I also love this Gray Malin Outdoor Beach Club Navy & Ivory Rug option for outdoor spaces.
P.S. It’s worth noting that my Gray Malin rug featured in my screened-in porch isn’t an outdoor specific rug, so you could 100% put this in your home. I’d love to put a second one in my bedroom!
As is the case with most furniture in my home, I scored this vintage bamboo dining set off Facebook Marketplace last summer. When I purchased the set it was its natural brown color, but it looked tried and made the screened-in porch feel dark instead of light, bright, and coastal. After living with the set in its natural state for an entire year, I was confident in my decision to spray paint it all white.
Pro Tip: I’d invest in a paint sprayer to tackle a project of this size. While using approx. 8 cans of White Rustoleum Semi-Gloss Spray Paint did the trick, I couldn’t feel the tip of my index finger for about 2 weeks after this DIY project.
Anyway! Check out the before and after pics below. I think almost anyone will agree I made the right choice by bringing this cracked & peeling vintage bamboo dining set back to life with a fresh paint job!
With my new Gray Malin rug being the focal point of screened-in porch, I had so much fun pulling in other Gray Malin inspired coastal details to complete the space! Namely, these palms that I picked up at my local nursery add a pop of color AND add to the room’s coastal oasis feel. While I don’t keep my Serena & Lily rattan bar cart out all summer long, I am 100% interested in sourcing an outdoor option because come on, a bar cart belongs in that corner. Am I right?!

This space turned out amazing! And the rug is the perfect finishing touch!
Looks amazing. So glad to see the painted furniture as I just started doing the same to my patio set. Feeling inspired.
Thank you Grace! What are you planning on painting?! I’d love to see before and after pics!
