Good morning! Ranger and Helen here! Lemme tell you, Ranger is so excited to be featured in today’s blog post! If shooting blog photos wasn’t difficult enough, I spent the other day shooting blog photos with Ranger (my 3 month old puppy!). What can I say, I like a good challenge! After what seemed like hundreds of photos (because it probably was), I think we got a few shots. But to be honest, my favorite thing to do when looking back through all the photos is to see all the funny bloopers of the two of us! And if you’re wondering why I even would think to bring Ranger to my blog shoots, it’s because she LOVES being with me. That’s the way maltipoos are, and hey I can relate! I don’t like being alone all day either!
Alright. I’ve got three words for you: This. Camel. Coat. On my list of fall staples/wardrobe staples, camel coats are at the top. Let’s file them under the “essential” category. Trust me, buy a nice camel coat (I’m kind of partial to this one). You’ll have it forever and you’ll wear it a lot! I actually didn’t have one until recently, but it’d always been on my list. I meant to buy one last year, but instead walked out of J.Crew with a maroon coat instead. Oops! (#RoanokeCollegePride)
If you’re sitting here wondering, why is this J.Crew camel coat so great? I have a few reasons, and I’m going to share them with you right now:
Camel is the perfect color to dress up or down. It’s so important to own a coat that can take you from running errands, to the soccer sidelines, to a fancy dinner. The coat I’m wearing in these photos is perfect for running from one thing to another without feeling like you’re over or under dressed. I would argue the way this coat is cut, is really neutral in the sense that it’s not over the top fancy, but it’s also not super laid back in style. Does that make sense?
It’s not that I have anything against black coats, but… my red hair sheds like a Labrador Retriever. No joke! So a black coat for me is just out of the question. I would either have to travel everywhere with a lint roller (no thanks), or I’d have to accept the fact that by the end of the day my black coat would look more like the camel coat I should have been wearing in the first place!!
Trends come and go, but classics stay the same. As a testament to that, this camel coat by J.Crew has been around for years! They keep bringing it back each fall season because it’s really just an awesome jacket. And as a second part to that, no matter what the trends of the season are, I can guarantee you that a camel colored coat will still blend/match/pair perfectly with your outfit. I love, love, love camel with white (more so than black, okay let me just say I’m not a huge fan of black, which is probably another reason why I love camel coats so much!). I think I got off on a tangent. Oops! I think you get the point!
Last but not least, Ranger matches perfectly with my camel coat! Ha! Okay that doesn’t actually matter, in the least bit, but check out the pictures, she is a pretty good match!
SOMETHING TO NOTE: J.Crew and J.Crew Factory both sell a style of this jacket, I linked and labeled both of those styles below. The J.Crew Factory one looks exactly the same, and while I can’t speak to the quality of it, I did read the reviews and people complained that it’s not as well made as the J.Crew coat I’m wearing (that retails at $350 vs. the factory coat at $150). I mean, no duh it’s not going to be as well made, but on the other hand, the J.Crew factory coat is a great option if you don’t want to spend too much money on a coat. To be honest, I was about to buy the J.Crew factory coat, but for some reason didn’t. The next day I went into my favorite upscale resale shop in Greenwich, Consigned Designs, and I found the more expensive version in my size in perfect condition for the same cost as the J.Crew factory coat! How awesome?! So there’s an idea for you also, check out your local consignment shops for a camel coat, who knows, you might be lucky like I was and find the exact coat you’re looking for!
coat: J.Crew (less expensive version here)• boots: Franco Sarto (similar here, here, here) • turtleneck (similar here) • skort: Zara •
bag: Zara • scarf: old from TJ Maxx
Coat runs large- I’m wearing this coat in a 00 with plenty of room for heavy sweaters and layers.
Boots are TTS & are narrow in the foot and leg (which is why I got them! I’m always looking for narrow boots that I’m not swimming in)
Skort runs TTS– I’m wearing an XS. It’s a stretchy material.
Ranger and I hope this post was helpful! Do you have a camel coat that you love? If so, where is it from?! I’d love to know!
