Who wants to count down the days until Memorial Day with me?! I’m ready to get into the holiday weekend spirit with this red, white, and sparkling picnic featuring 90+ Cellars Prosecco. It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of 90+ Cellars, which is why their Prosecco is usually the first one I reach for when crafting a delicious sparkling cocktail! Keep reading for all the details on my memorial day picnic featuring 90+ Cellars Prosecco PLUS a delicious & patriotic low-calorie cocktail recipe!
Thank you to 90+ Cellars for partnering with me on today’s blog post. As always, all opinions are my own! Learn about the greater impact my sponsored blog posts make with the Phillips Lane Promise.
Tip One // Keep your table decor simple. As much as I love a beautiful, formal tablescape with chargers and elaborate place settings, I always prioritize function over fashion when it comes to picnics. Our picnic spot required several trips back and forth to the car, so simplifying the tablescape was key! In this case, I was able to achieve a beautiful tablescape by simply focusing on floral arrangements, some candlesticks, and the food itself. Ta da! (While I usually prefer to make my own floral arrangements, I was tight on time and picked up these pre-made petite bouquets from Whole Foods).
Tip Two // Keep it classic. Especially for Memorial Day (and Fourth of July) it’s easy to get carried away with all the patriotic paraphernalia. In order to keep a classy, crisp look, I’d recommend sticking to white plates, simple acrylic glasses, and sprinkle in the red, white, and blue props sparingly. For this Memorial Day picnic tablescape I brought in the red, white, and blue with my tablecloth, flag-inspired vases, and specialty cocktail! Remember: less is more!
Tip Three // Plan your menu ahead of time & make a list! For those who don’t already know, my dad is an Executive Chef. I mightttt be biased, but he’s hands down the best! This Memorial Day BBQ/Picnic wouldn’t have been possible without all of his help meal planning, prepping, and grilling. A week prior to our picnic, we brainstormed menu ideas and made a shopping list. I went out to the store a day before the picnic to pick everything up and then made sure to make a list of all the items we were planning on bringing so nothing was left at home. Our menu consisted of…burgers (duh!), veggie kabobs, shrimp kabobs, potato salad, chips, homemade brownies, and chocolate covered pretzels.
Tip Four // Pack plenty of Prosecco! You wouldn’t want to run out of beverages while picnicking, right?! I love how 90+ Cellars is at such a great price point, which makes stocking up easy! For those who aren’t familiar with the brand’s story, 90+ Cellars was born from wanting to bring high quality wines to the market at a more affordable price point. Incredible right?! Tip Five // Don’t forget the clean-up! While this is certainly not the most fun or glamorous part of any picnic, it’s perhaps the most important! To make clean-up easier I always pack several garbage bags, Clorox wipes, paper towels, and extra water just in case I have to rinse something off. As someone who was a Girl Scout for 13 years, I always make sure to leave my picnic site cleaner than I found it!
I love how simple this Low-Calorie Memorial Day Sparkling Cocktail is! You really can’t mess it up and there are so many possibilities to put your own spin on it! All you’ll need is…
After selecting your glass of choice, add a handful or two of ice along with a handful of blueberries (pre-washed). Then you’ll want to fill the glass approximately halfway with 90+ Cellars Prosecco. Add a splash of Aperol to get a pop of color and then you’re done! If you really want to impress your guests, or if you just want to skip the Aperol for some reason, you can opt to add watermelon instead! I used a star-shaped cookie cutter to make watermelon stars to get that extra patriotic feel! AND if you really want to get fancy here, you could freeze your watermelon stars and use those as your ice cubes instead! Lastly, depending on your preference, feel free to add a spring of fresh rosemary!
If you’re looking to add a bit more variety to your beverage bucket at your Memorial Day BBQ/Picnic, look no further than 90+ Cellars’ Rosé! I’m also a HUGE fan of their Prosecco Rosé and always have a few bottles on hand (just in case!). 90+ Cellars recently announced their Rosé collaboration with Life Is Good and the bottle is so quintessentially summer! As an added bonus, 10% of the proceeds are donated to children in need.
