Happy Monday from Ocracoke! I’m still on Island time, but at least I’m back on schedule with knowing the days of the week. Since I’m spending some time on the beach with my Grandma I’ve been able to be more relaxed with my makeup. No offense to my Grandma, but I don’t have to impress her with a full face of makeup! No makeup days are something I wish I could do more often, but unfortunately with how bad my skin is I can’t just roll out of bed, put some mascara on, and go to work. If only! With that being said, I don’t mind doing my makeup at all. I actually love putting makeup on, partially because I think it’s fun and partially because I feel so much better when I cover up my acne. The only thing I dislike about “putting my face on” (a phrase I learned from my Grandma!) is that I know wearing makeup day after day isn’t great for my skin. So anyway, yay for these relaxing days by the ocean where I don’t have to worry about looking good (aside from my blog shoots!).
I am a firm believer that you can never own too many stripes. I also love pairing stripes with stripes, or in this case I layered stripes with stripes, but you get the point! If there’s one place that could be deemed the stripe Mecca it’s J.Crew, which is where both my t-shirt and sweater are from. In fact, J.Crew celebrated #nationalstripeday last week!
One of my all time favorite ways to style navy stripes is with white jeans, see below! (And yes, I realize this is nothing revolutionary or new, I’m just sharing a classic look that I love). I bought these Blank NYC fringe jeans last week and I love them! Have you ever heard of the Blank NYC brand before? I hadn’t! They’re super affordable, made in America, and really comfy. Since I’m always honest with ya here, the reason why I wanted a new pair of white jeans is because my white Toothpick Jeans from J.Crew weren’t cutting it. I love J.Crew (so much!), but the jeans were slightly baggy and I didn’t feel great in them. These Blank NYC jeans on the other hand are not baggy and I was assured by the sales associate that they won’t stretch. Yay! Side note—life’s too short to wear clothes you don’t feel great in. Who agrees?!
