Who doesn’t love a budget-friendly project?? I was able to completely transform an empty corner of the loft room with a cozy window seat. Today’s blog post is in partnership with Christmas Tree Shops and I’m SO excited to be sharing with you this super simple DIY. Ever since we moved into the new house (I guess it’s not so new anymore, we’ve already been here for 6 months!!), I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with the downstairs space of the loft room. It has this big, beautiful window and in the winter we have views of the Long Island Sound, so I really wanted to play that up while making the space functional. Keep reading for how to create a cozy window seat on a budget with Christmas Tree Shops!
If you’re the kind of person who can build out a custom window seat, all the more power to you! Christmas Tree Shops always has a great selection of benches, ottomans, and poufs that are affordable, stylish, and a great way to create a cozy window seat on a budget without having to whip out any power tools! For this project, I actually repurposed an old ottoman that was just collecting dust in our workout room. That’s what I call a win/win!
To create a cozy window seat on a budget in your home, you’re going to want to start by sourcing some cozy throw pillows, a rug or two, and blankets. Christmas Tree Shops is always my go-to for these items since they’re so affordable and have great quality! I stocked up on a bunch of textured throw pillows from the Grainhouse Collection exclusive to Christmas Tree Shops. All the throw pillows you see here are from Christmas Tree Shops and were between $15-$20 each.
The difference between a window seat and a COZY window seat is defining the space. Adding a small rug is a great way to do just that. It’s that simple! It might sound silly, but the rug really pulls the space together and makes it feel like a cozy window nook! This rug was $16 from Christmas Tree Shops and it’s actually so nice I bought it twice! Yes, really! I love the design so I bought one initially for my bathroom and then I went back and got another one for this window seat space.
I think we can all agree that being able to curl up with a good book is a requirement for any cozy window seat. That’s why you’ll want to add lots of pillows and blankets! I also wanted to add some light to this space and this $25 table lamp from the Grainhouse Collection was perfect!
As you’ve probably noticed with my previous design projects, I love adding fresh greenery to any space. For me, it brings in a pop of color to warm up a neutral palette. I’m also a huge fan of dried eucalyptus, which fit perfectly in this $11 Grainhouse Collection gold-dipped hurricane vase. How beautiful!? Of course I had to style the space with an assortment of Christmas Tree Shop candles and candle holders! The only thing left to decide… which book should be my inaugural window-seat read? Please drop any recommendations in the comments below!
Next week I’ll be revealing the rest of this guest bedroom (spoiler alert, it’s SO cute!!). The only thing left for me to tackle in this room is some art for the walls so I’m making that my priority the next time I’m in Christmas Tree Shops! CTS has a great selection of affordable mirrors, wall art, and frames.
Outside of this room, I’m excited to tackle my studio/office and our workout room! Right now both rooms are basically empty so I’ve got my work cut out for me! And you can bet I’ll be sourcing items from Christmas Tree Shops for these projects.
