Hello, hello! I’m writing to you from the comfort of my lounge chair here in Barbados. It’s another gorgeous day and it feels bittersweet to be heading back to CT this evening (very excited to see Ranger though!). Speaking of Barbados, about a month ago I connected with Greenwich Barre Studio to see if they’d be interested in working together. I knew I had this trip on the horizon and I desperately needed to get my “beach bod” back! If you’ve been following along with Style Inherited for some time now, you know I LOVE barre and have been doing it for the past couple of years. While I fell off the wagon for a little while, I’m so happy to be back at the barre, Greenwich Barre Studio to be exact! Keep reading to find all about Greenwich’s newest barre studio (spoiler alert, it’s fabulous!).
Cindy Sites, the founder and owner of Greenwich Barre Studio, has been perfecting her barre technique for nearly 30 years. I love how Cindy and her daughter, Taylor Grothe, came together to open this boutique barre studio right on Greenwich Ave. They’re both amazing people and have deep roots in Greenwich and the surrounding Fairfield County community. Together they’re the perfect team! You guys know how much I love a mother-daughter team! (Cough, cough, Style Inherited came from none other than my mom!)
The first time I walked into Greenwich Barre Studio (located at 109 Greenwich Ave, on the block up from the corner of Vineyard Vines and basically right across the street from CFCF) I was in awe. It’s a retreat, it’s an oasis, and it’s located conveniently in the middle of Greenwich! For all of us who frequent the Ave for shopping and coffee dates, you really have no excuse! Pop into class before you make your returns at Saks or meet for lattes at The Granola Bar. It’s so easy to make time for something that’s right there, at least that’s how I operate!
I think everyone can agree that what makes or breaks a barre studio are the instructors. I’ve done my homework here and have taken class with every instructor at Greenwich Barre Studio and they’re all amazing! Not only do the instructors (hi Cindy, Eve, Kelly, and Laurel!), know what they’re doing, but they care. Let’s also not brush over the fact that you can take classes taught by Cindy, the founder/owner, who is kind of a big deal in the barre world! The instructors do an amazing job balancing the flow of class with making sure everyone is having a good time while doing so!
I’m not going to sugar coat it, when I popped into Greenwich Barre Studio for my first class about a month ago I was not happy with the Helen that walked into that room. Even beyond looks (I definitely didn’t feel comfortable putting on a bathing suit at that point), I was more disappointed in the fact that I’d lost a lot of my core and arm strength I’d worked so hard to build.
One of the first things I said to Cindy was that I needed to get in shape for Barbados, to which she replied with something like, “that’s good motivation and we can do that!” I’m here a month later to say Greenwich Barre Studio DID do that! I am still working towards my end goal of getting my six pack back, but right now I’m so happy to report that I’m getting there and really LOVING the process of doing so! I mean, just look at this studio guys! I’m so lucky to get to call this studio my home base for getting back into shape.
Want to try class, but you’re a little nervous to go alone? Feel free to reach out to me, either via email (styleinherited@gmail.com) or via Instagram DM. I always love meeting you guys and what better place than at the barre?!
