Is it just me or am I channeling Kim Possible in this outfit? Okay…maybe it’s just the pants and red hair. Anyway, I’m really not a crop top person. I wish I were edgier and more eager to step out of my comfort zone, but time and time again I find myself finding excuses to not purchase crop tops.
What I find so comfortable about this crop top is that it’s not severely cropped, it’s just slightly shorter showing only a little bit of stomach. The chinos featured in this outfit are low-rise, but with a mid-rise or high-rise pant the crop top just floats a smidge above the waistband.
Switching gears…I rarely shop at The Gap. Actually, I can’t remember the last time I stepped into The Gap before the other weekend. I think it’s because Ryan Gosling in Crazy, Stupid, Love tells Steve Carell to “be better than The Gap.” Ever since then I’ve been living by Ryan Gosling’s words of wisdom, or so I thought.
Having some time to spare over Labor Day Weekend I walked by a Gap and noticed they were having 50% off everything! Okay…that caught my attention. I went into the store with no expectations at all and was so surprised with their amazing fall selection! I left with a handful of things, but my two favorite pieces are this crop top and this oversized cardigan (so, so soft!).
So maybe you can say I’m finally starting to admit that summer is coming to an end…but just because I’m posting this autumn outfit doesn’t mean I’ve given in completely! Raise your hand if you’re still holding out for some 80 degree days in September! Outfit details below:
sweater: Gap • top: [similar here] • pants: Anthropologie • booties: Jack Rogers • cuff: [similar here] • bag: Kate Spade [vintage*]
the scoop: I’m wearing a size xs/s in this grey cardigan // can’t believe the crop top is sold out right now!! They had it completely stocked the other day…this ASOS one is just like my Gap one though and same price! // I’m wearing a size 25 in these chinos // I’m a 7 in Jacks, these booties are so comfortable // I love buying vintage Kate Spade pieces, like this bag! The best place to find older Kate Spade bags are at upscale, second-hand stores. My favorite shop: Consigned Designs, Greenwich, CT
What are your thoughts on crop tops? Any suggestions of some other great options that aren’t too revealing?
