Happy Monday! I’m flying out to Colorado for the week for some hiking, relaxing, and restaurant hopping! Boulder, CO has quickly become one of my favorite places. The lifestyle is just soooo different from what I’m used to in New England. My feeling towards Boulder is that it’s absolutely perfect, except for one thing…it’s nowhere near an ocean! As much of a mountain girl as I am, I don’t think I’ll ever be able to give up my need for being close to the ocean.
Oh and speaking of the ocean, I’m sharing this beautiful blue midi skirt today along with some other favorites (blue and other hues!) in addition to sharing all the reasons why I love them! Midi skirts, or tea-length skirts have changed my life for the better. Not joking! That’s why my goal is to convince you they’re awesome by the end of this post! So grab your coffee or whiskey or whatever you’re drinking and keep reading!
The skirt I’m wearing in these pictures is linked here! Believe it or not, it’s not the Endless Rose skirt you see priced at $28.50 above, however, I purchased that exact skirt in the pink color and LOVE it! You cant go wrong with either skirt, just depends whether you want an elastic waist or a side-zip-up.
I also linked a bunch of other cute midi skirts at all different price points that I’ve been eyeing. I love all the fabric midi skirts have and what all this extra fabric allows! Like ruffle layers, or tulip hems, or peplum bottoms, the list goes on! Aside from just looking pretty though, I feel like there are several valid reasons why midi skirts just rock. You can find my top 4 reasons below!
•1• Your butt doesn’t stick to anything. Ha, okay maybe butt is the wrong and I should have said “backs of your legs,” but at least I got your attention! Seriously though, one of my least favorite parts of wearing shorts or short skirts, especially in the summer time, is that your legs stick to everything. EW! I know I’m a little more of a germaphobe than your average person, but I don’t want my bare legs touching the train or subway seats. No thank you! Luckily midi skirts solve this problem!
•2• Better circulation than pants. I’m typically cold everywhere I go in the summer because A/C temps are kept so low! I rarely opt for wearing jeans or pants though, especially if I’ll be sitting for a while because that’s no good for your blood circulation in your legs. Midi skirts give you enough fabric for your legs not to freeze without being uncomfortable!
•3• The best balance of classy and flirty. I love playing around with midi skirts. You can obviously dress them up for a formal event, anything from a Kentucky Derby party to a fancy dinner out in the city…but I also love how you can dress a midi skirt down with a tucked in or tie-up t-shirt and sneakers! It’s that simple! Even taking this one step further, I love jumping outside the box with dressing up my t-shirt with a fancy midi skirt and a some nice accessories! That’s exactly what I did her for a dinner date the other night at L’Éscale in Greenwich.
•4• Wear every season! You might be surprised that I’m claiming you can wear midi skirts every season- but hear me out! Obviously summer and spring are kind of no brainers here. The breezy style of a midi skirt makes it much more appealing on those hot days because it won’t be stuck to your sweaty skin! Fall is probably pretty obvious too. I love the idea of pairing such a feminine piece (like the midi skirt) with a structured, leather jacket or heavy jean jacket! And now onto winter… first off- believe it or not, you can 100% pair a midi skirt with knee high boots! It’s kind of a cool look IMO and it definitely makes sense when it’s super cold out! I’d more commonly pair my midi skirts with a pair of booties, also a great option for colder weather, but will make sure to style it with knee-high boots this coming winter to show you!
Alrighty! I’m off to CO now, so catch ya Wednesday with a new blog post! And make sure to check out my Instagram to follow along on my trip!
