Hi everyone! Happy Monday! In hopes of pumping you up for this week I’m sharing my new favorite workout that I recently discovered: Club Sweat! For all my local followers, you’re welcome- I just introduced you to such an amazing workout! Ha! But seriously, you need to try Club Sweat out! If you live near Greenwich and want to try class out, but are a bit nervous, just let me know! I’d love to find a time for us to meet up (because A- I love to meet my followers, and B- because I need a workout buddy!) ALSO the first class is free! So let’s take out our agendas and finally find a time to meet up, sweat it out, and have some fun! Oh yeah, and if you have kids that’s NO excuse because Club Sweat has a daycare component to their studio!
If you’re not local, I really think you can still take a lot away from this review, so I hope you continue to read and learn more about Club Sweat! Who knows- maybe you have a similar concept studio near where you live and now you’ll be well-informed on anything/everything elliptical related!
Great question! Club Sweat is like a spinning class, but instead of being on a bike, you’re on an elliptical. There are many similarities to spin class, with the loud music, dim lights, motivational instructor, and butt-kicking workout! But there’s also a lot different, so let me dive a bit more into that!
My personal experience, and while I’m no Club Sweat expert, I’ve taken class more than a few times now so I’ve got a pretty good feel for it, standing up on the elliptical engages your core a lot more than spinning. I most certainly sweat a lot more in my Club Sweat classes than I previously had doing spin classes (and I’ve tried a bunch of those at a variety of different studios). Maybe that’s because Club Sweat is a better workout or maybe the Club Sweat instructors are able to push me further than the other instructors at other studios? Hard to say, but either way I can’t ignore the fact that I walk out of Club Sweat classes dripping sweat, yes dripping!
With that being said, the great thing about Club Sweat classes is that you can go at your own pace! And honestly, that’s not something you’ll find at every studio. My experience with a lot of spin studios is that they have a cut-throat mentality that pressures you into sticking to the class’ pace or else you’ll mess the person next to you up. But really, I remember doing my first class at [insert spin studio here] and the instructor told me I should be in the back if I didn’t think I’d be able to keep up with the class’ pace because she wouldn’t want me to negatively impact the other participant’s experience. Sigh. Anyway! Maybe you just want to get your blood moving, but don’t want to be super sore the next day. That’s fine too! Just come to class with whatever your intentions are and maybe you’ll end up soaking wet from sweating your booty off, or maybe you’ll walk out of class feeling great that you at least got out and moved a little!
The studio location is right near Old Greenwich, off 95 at exit 5. For those super local, it’s right near Staples! For parking, just drive behind the building it’s located in and park in the back. You’ll go up a few flights of stairs and it’s the third door down the hall, or so, very well labeled!
The first class I wore leggings and a tank top with a pair of adidas sneakers (which I would label as more of a fashionable pair than an athletic pair). Leggings and workout classes kind of go hand-in-hand these days, BUT I would suggest you stick to shorts for Club Sweat. It’s so much more comfortable since you sweat SO much, and the less fabric the better to keep you cool! As for sneakers, don’t wear your cute ones to class. Wear a good pair of running sneakers, you’ll want the structure, traction, and support. If you show up in a pair of cute Nikes, you might look the part, but speaking from personal experience, my first class was inhibited by my sub-par sneakers. The rest of the classes I’ve taken have been incredible and I’ve felt so much more confident on the elliptical when I’m wearing my New Balance sneakers with tons of traction on the bottom.
AND! Make sure you have a good hair tie! They sell Tele Ties, which I LOVE, or I use my Lululemon scrunchie. Don’t try to do class with a bun, make sure you have you hair in a tight pony-tail!
The Instructors: So far I’ve taken multiple classes with Kristina and Bethany. I love BOTH of them! They’re great instructors who are clearly passionate about working out and motivating Club Sweat clients to be their best selves. I am looking forward to taking classes with the other instructors, but of course I have to give a huge shout out to these two who are awesome! Make sure you sign up for their classes!
The Workout: Umm duh! As I’ve said in so many of my previous blog posts, I used to hate working out. I loved eating 8 brownies a day (flashback to college!), but back then working out for me seemed like a chore rather than a time to have fun and let loose. I’m so glad I’ve finally found workouts that I’m excited about going to, that make me feel like a better person once I leave, and that kick my butt into shape! Club Sweat is like going to a party and dancing around with your friends, except you’re burning way more calories and instead of drinking margaritas you’re chugging water. What’s not to love about that?!
Thank you so much to Club Sweat for partnering with me to bring you guys this blog post! I love trying new workouts, and this one is awesome! I received two weeks of free classes in exchange for my honest opinion/review of Club Sweat. Honestly, I’m so glad I discovered Club Sweat through blogging! It’s something I’m going to keep doing even after these two weeks. So let me know when you want to go to class together- the first class is free if you come with me.
A glimpse of the lobby at Club Sweat Studios Greenwich. Here’s a confession: I love to reward myself with athletic clothes to motivate myself to work out more often!
Check out the Play Lounge for kids to hang out with a studio-provided babysitter while parents work out!
I suggest choosing a machine in the center of the room for your first few workouts. Maybe the second row is best so you can watch the person right in front of you.
#livethesweatlife that’s the Club Sweat motto and I’m so glad I live the sweat life now!
I love how the cubbies are located in the studio so you don’t have to ever worry about your stuff running off while you’re in class!
So. Many. Towels. You’ll need them, trust me!
