I haven’t been apple picking in forever! There’s something about going to an orchard that just brings you back to your childhood…wait…why is that? I mean, there’s nothing childish about picking fresh fruit, baking pies, and making jams/sauces. Okay, anyway, exploring Russell’s Orchard in Ipswich, Massachusetts last weekend was such a blast! The orchard has been around since 1920 so you can imagine they have apple picking down to a science.

There are two ways to get out to the apple orchard, taking a complimentary hay ride or walking. The walk was less than 10 minutes, but I do tend to walk fast. I think the hay ride would have been fun, but you know how I am: if it’s walkable, then I’m walking. I think we picked every apple variety they had…and there were a lot! The suggested for baking were Jonagolds, and after successfully making my first apple pie ever I would agree.

With the way the weather has been it was the perfect temperature to pair this navy mini skirt with my flannel (which is actually my sister’s). And let me tell you, this vest keeps you nice and warm and cozy. Towards the end of the trip I had to take my vest off to avoid overheating! Outfit details below!

the scoop: I’m wearing a size XS in this skirt, it’s stocked in all sizes and comes in a caramel color too! // This vest is an XS and I still have plenty of room to wear a heavy sweater. It comes in black and a light blue as well. // Hunter boots if you have never tried them on before can be a little weird with sizing. They don’t do half sizes, I’m luckily a 7 and have a little room for heavy socks, but if you tend to wear 1/2 sizes then you’ll have to decide whether you’re okay with them being snug or loose.
