Hello friends! I’m currently typing today’s post from a very remote part of Iceland. Last night I “glamped” (glamour camping) for the first time and I can’t wait to share all about that experience soon! For now that we’re throwing it back to a month ago when I escaped to Nantucket for a couple of days. While I’m in NO WAY a Nantucket expert, at all, I always love sharing my experiences and travels with you guys. Keep reading to find out where we ate & stayed in Nantucket.
Considering I booked this trip only a couple days before actually heading up to Nantucket, most places were already sold out or had jacked up their prices. The one place that was reasonably priced and looked nice was The Roberts Collection. Overall I did really like this charming inn. Our room was beautifully decorated & clean, the courtyard was such a nice amenity, and the location was unbeatable.
With that being said, there were a few things that didn’t live up to my expectations. Most disappointing was the hospitality, or lack thereof. Check in was guaranteed by 3:00pm. Long story short, my room was not ready at 3:00pm and the women at the front desk weren’t even apologetic about the inconvenience, nor did they notify me when my room was finally ready. I hope that maybe these ladies at reception were just having an off day, but regardless I do feel like they could have handled the situation in a much better way.
Would I still stay there again/recommend it to you guys?
Yeah, I would. As I previously said, the inn overall was very charming and I did love the location and again, the courtyard is such a nice spot to relax/regroup. The inn does offer a complimentary breakfast, but it isn’t anything to write home about. I’d suggest walking down the street to The Bean or going somewhere else for breakfast.
(In the order we ate at places)
Slip 14 – This was where we had lunch the first day. It’s a fun spot right on the harbor with good food in a laid-back atmosphere. If you’re looking for a causal surf/turf lunch then this is your spot! I ordered the fish tacos and really enjoyed them. (LUNCH)
The Juice Bar – This is apparently the best ice cream on nantucket and while I didn’t try every spot on the island, I can believe it. The most important thing to know about this place is that it’s CASH ONLY. Their ice cream is homemade and it’s really good, but dairy free options are limited. (ICE CREAM)
The Proprietors – Such. A. Cool. Menu. This place is a MUST! I am still dreaming of the dinner I had here. I haven’t gone to a place this inspiring in a long time, guys. Can you tell I’m really excited just talking about it? Their known for their tapas, but do have a few larger items on the menu as well. Make sure you order the Everything Bagel Donuts & save room for dessert! (DINNER)
The Bean – Located just steps away from The Roberts Collection, this is a cute little coffee shop with baked goods & sandwiches. Their chocolate pound cake is really good in case you were curious! (BREAKFAST)
Millie’s – We took the bus out to Millie’s for lunch the second day on Nantucket. This place, like The Juice Bar, came highly recommended by just about everyone who has ever gone to Nantucket. In short, it was a must! I loved my salad and the portions were large. Afterwards we walked down the road to the beach. (LUNCH)
The Summer House – After our lunch at Millie’s & a quick trip to the beach we took the bus back into town. On the bus we started chatting with this nice couple and they told us we had to check out The Summer House for drinks. After regrouping back at the hotel we eventually made our way to Siasconset. The atmosphere at The Summer House is the perfect blend of luxury & laid-back. It was a great spot to have drinks and Siasconset was such a cute little place to walk around. Definitely can’t be missed (DRINKS/SNACKS)
Ventuno – This was another great dinner! We didn’t make reservations so when we walked in we just went upstairs and sat at one of the bars. I actually really preferred this because our bartender (I think his name was Kyle) was a lot of fun and mixed the best drinks!
Cisco Brewers – Yet another place that everyone recommended we spent some time at. While I’m not a beer drinker by any means, the atmosphere was very fun and they serve a lot more than just beer! I had some sort of blue lemonade cocktail. There are plenty of food trucks on site to grab a bite to eat. (DRINKS)
167 Raw – Instead of eating at Cisco, we hopped on over to 167 Raw, which is a pretty down-to-earth place with really great, reasonably priced seafood. In addition to the seafood store, there is a food truck and some picnic tables for you to enjoy your lobster roll, fish tacos, or raw bar. I really loved this place and would go back in a heartbeat. (LUNCH)
*After each place I ate I included what I ate there in all caps.
In attempt to not overwhelm you I only wrote up quick little blurbs about each place I ate at. If you have any questions/want more details about a spot please don’t hesitate to ask!
