Hello hello friends! I’m sorry I’ve been so MIA on here. Between everything breaking in our new place (more on that later) and planning a last minute trip to Iceland, I’ve been pretty darn busy! So here we are, almost August and I’m finally getting around to sharing my empty home tour and some home updates! ***Edit 2/4/2020, click HERE to see the kitchen reveal, it turned out better than I could have ever imagined!
One of my favorite things about our new place is all the windows! Although every single one needs to be replaced (just keeping it real over here), I couldn’t be happier with all the natural lighting we have! This room pictured above is eventually going to be our dining room/office, but right now it’s our living room until we do some renovations.
Pictured above is the half bath & the entry to our kitchen. Hopefully in the coming month we’ll be starting renovations to both! Just updating the half bath, and for the kitchen we want to open it up to the living room next to it (pictured below). I’m so excited to start designing our new kitchen and picking out the tiles, countertop, and everything else!
Check out our master bedroom, it’s pretty darn nice! I love all the light that comes in through our oversized bay window and drum roll please… the closet space! Guysss! I know I’ve said this before, but I went from having 1 tiny closet in our last apartment to now having a HUGE closet all to myself! (P.S. I also have a linen closet and I’m in love. I mean a closet, just for my towels? That’s luxury!)
My vision with our master bedroom is pretty simple, just swap out the closet doors for mirrored French doors and new blinds because those are all broken too. Have you noticed a theme here? Ha! Since moving in we removed the plastic doors in the center closet/nook thingy. It looks so much nicer just having the shelving! Maybe one day we’ll close up the nook with doors, but for now I kind of like styling the shelves!
The day after we moved into our new place Jessica from Mss.Organized came over and helped unpack us/organize our closets. Read more about that here!
So much potential here! The latest in the “what broke this week series” is that our tub is now leaking into our living room. Yep. So I guess the good news here is that we get to redo our master bath sooner than expected! The plan here is to update the vanity area, new tile flooring, new paint, and a new shower! You might not be able to tell from these pictures but we have the world’s weirdest tub! It’s actually a triangular shape. So definitely getting rid of that!
Eventually we’ll update the guest bathroom with a new vanity, but for now we’ll just work on giving it a fresh coat of paint and some newer fixtures.
So the first two months have been interesting! If you follow me on Instagram then you’ve heard all about how there is never a dull moment in our new home. From the washing machine to our garage door, to our A/C during one of the hottest days of the summer, it’d probably be easier to list off what hasn’t broken yet! So far we’ve taken everything in stride and has made me even more appreciative for when things do work!
You know who hasn’t been phased by any of this at all? Ranger! She couldn’t be happier in her new home. It’s hard to say what she loves more, her daily walks to the park or all the space to run around indoors! Her favorite place to take naps changes daily, but I can be certain it’s never too far from where I hunker down to get work done.
