Hudson Valley Balloon Fest- Something To Do This Weekend
Two days ago I had the opportunity to attend the media preview for the Hudson Valley Balloon Fest in Dutchess County, NY and it was awesome! If you don’t have anything going on this weekend I’d highly suggest you take the ride over to Rhinebeck, NY for the festival. What is the Hudson Valley Balloon Fest? It’s a one-of-a-kind balloon festival that has 100+ balloon launches projected over the course of the three-day festival. The festival, now in it’s 28th year is drawing crowds from all over the world. How cool!? You can pay $20/person on-site (cash) to take a tethered balloon ride (this is what I got to experience at the media preview event on Wednesday), or you can try to get a full-flight balloon ride at the ride tent for $275/person. I definitely want to do one of these one day soon!
In addition to the balloons, the festival has tons of local vendors for participants to interact with. We got a sneak preview of some of these vendors at the media preview on Wednesday. The food from Adams Fairacre Farms @adamsfairacrefarms was incredible. Their cheese boards and dried fruits were so creative and tasted even better than the looked! (Hard to imagine) We also go to taste some wine from Millbrook Winery @millwine , and some exclusive ciders by Angry Orchard @agryorchard . The balloon flights were so incredible to watch while listening to music by Ian Flanigan (@ianflaniganmusic).
As for entertainment (in addition to the balloons) at the media preview, we had a fun photo booth by Red-Eye Productions @red_eye_productions_events_ & a surprise flyover courtesy of Rhinebeck Aerodrome @rhinebeckaerodromemuseum .
If you’re free this weekend, definitely find time to go! This festival is perfect for all ages. Bring your kids with you and let them experience the magic of hot air balloons for the first time, use it as your first date (one you’ll never forget), or just grab your best friend and make it into an impromptu road trip destination!
