Happy Monday! I’m so excited to kick this week off on the right foot! I have lots of things to check off my to-do list today and I bet you do too! So let’s do this!

Last week I partnered with Elegance Salon in Rye, NY to get my hair cut and styled. I’m embarrassed to say that the last time I got my hair cut was…um…I can’t even remember! So clearly a hair cut was way overdue. Fun fact- back in high school I used to cut my own hair and my friend Paige’s hair (hi Paige!). I have absolutely no experience cutting hair, and have no idea why I started to do it, but I guess over time it just became my thing. With that being said, I now understand the importance of a great hair cut and that’s exactly what I got at Elegance Salon!

Walking into Elegance Salon located right on Rye’s Purchase Street, I was greeted by smiles and a warm welcome. Honestly, this was so refreshing to me! The past few times I’ve gotten my hair cut on Greenwich Ave I was completely ignored when walking into the salons. Ummmm rude! So yeah, thank you Elegance Salon for making me feel like a regular customer and not like the newbie I was!

Anyway back to my hair apt! Michelle, my hair stylist, was right there when I walked in and she quickly got me set up with a robe to cover my clothes. After a brief talk about what I wanted to do with my hair– just some layers, angles in the front, and a little trim to make the ends healthy again–I went over to the wash station for a shampoo and condition. They have lots of amazing products, but I immediately recognized the same Keratin shampoo (Kérastase) I use at home, so that was really cool!

Of the hair washes I’ve received at salons, I have to say that this one was really nice! It’s kind of funny, my friend Catie and I were having this talk the other day. She was saying how she never gets her hair washed at salons because it’s always too rough or water gets all over her face. While I can’t say I’ve had any extremely bad experiences like Catie has, I can say that my hair wash at Elegance Salon was really nice and relaxing! Previously I’ve worn foundation to my hair appointments and then regretted it because I’d have this whole gap by my hair line where the water and shampoo was. So of course this time I went to Elegance Salon I decided to not wear any makeup, but in hindsight I totally could have because no water got on my face! Yippie!

Back on track now…Michelle did such a great job cutting and styling my hair, I mean, just look at these photos! I would recommend her to anyone- and especially all of you! Not only did she do a really nice job cutting my hair, but she was really easy to talk to and connect with. Isn’t it the worst when you’re sitting in a chair for 45+ minutes completely, awkwardly silent? I got to hear about Michelle’s upcoming wedding and honeymoon to the Maldives. How cool!?!

Elegance Salon in Rye, NY was no exception and I’m so happy I get to add another gem to my “A Local Gem” series! The experience was so great that I’ll be back in 6 months! A first for me!
