It’s Wednesday! Wow this week is flying by for me, I hope you’re feeling the same way! I’m counting down the days until I head back to Colorado for a nice 11-day vacation! I spent a week in Colorado last summer and loved it! It’s so different from anywhere I’ve ever been, but that’s also mainly due to the fact that I’ve mostly just explored the East Coast, but hey, can’t complain about that! As much as I love international travel, I’m so much more inclined to travel domestically, there is just so much to see in the US and I’ve barely scratched the surface! Something I’m really hoping to do this trip to Colorado is to take a day and drive up to Wyoming. Eeeek! I’ve never been to Wyoming before and something about it just seem so magical! So yes, I’m very thrilled to be trading the Greenwich shoreline out for the CO mountains, but don’t get me wrong, the beach will always be my home!
Speaking of the beach…and summer…and summer staples…well, we weren’t talking about summer staples, but now we are! (Ha, see what I did there?) I’m sharing three things that I deem to be “summer staples.” The funny thing about staples is that on the one hand it’s definitely objective. Staples are things that everyone needs, but on the other hand people place different values on different things. While I would never leave my house without a pair of sunglasses, there are plenty of people who would just throw on a hat and go. So anyway, these are three of MY summer staples, and hopefully they inspire your selection of summer staples! But if you completely disagree let me know, I’d love to hear what your summer staples are!
I love this new trend with t-shirt dresses now having a tie-front. It’s a simple twist on a classic and maybe you’re opposed to mixing up a classic, but sometimes I find it refreshing! This Rebecca Minkoff dress checks all my boxes, comfy, not see-through, and light-weight. No one wants to be wearing some heavy material in the summer, am I right? Also- I’m always so concerned with buying a t-shirt dress that is see-through and maybe some people are fine with throwing a slip on underneath, but that’s too much work in my book. Just being honest!
T-shirt dresses and summer go hand in hand for me and a large part of that is how versatile they are! Beach cover-up, brunch outfit, casual Friday, dinner date, the t-shirt dress does it all and then some!
I am a sucker for a good beach bag. Everyone has their “thing” that they buy compulsively and for me it’s beach bags, not going to lie I definitely have more than I even realize. That’s a problem! Anyway no number of beach bags was going to keep me from snatching this Hat Attack NY tote for this summer. I love the fact that it’s unique and it’s definitely a bit more elevated than your average beach tote so you can easily run from hanging out on the beach to lunch with the girls and not have to miss a beat if you’re carrying this bag. Yes I realize it has pretty large gaps because of the design, but I just throw my smaller items in their own pouch, toss the pouch into this bag, and then I’m off! The best part of those spaces though? Not tracking sand into your car, with a few shakes on your walk back from the beach all the sand just comes right out!
This iconic sandal band does a lot more than just flip-flops these days. While they started off with the classic “Jacks” flip-flop, Jack Rogers has branched out into doing sneakers, loafers, booties, wedges, along with a bunch of other styles! My Jack Rogers slip on sneakers are so comfy I didn’t even have to wear them in! Score! And we all know by now that I don’t buy uncomfortable formal shoes and these Jack Rogers wedges are no exception! the flat version of these sandals are a bit too wide for my feet, but these wedges fit perfectly! Yay!
What are your summer staples? Are any of my three on your list? Let me know!
