Let me preface this by saying, you might read this and think I’m crazy, but honestly, it’s even just a bit surreal that I’m sitting here writing this blog post. MANY years ago I started following Gal Meets Glam. In the beginning I was just reading her blog a couple times a week, and over time I grew in and out of a routine of keeping up with GMG. Once I finally joined the Instagram craze, about two years ago, I really was able to keep up with following Gal Meets Glam! It was crazy to me that I was able to see Julia and her husband, Thomas, posting on Insta stories, sharing their lives with all of us loyal fans.
What I’m trying to say is, I’ve been following Gal Meets Glam for a really long time now, from almost the beginning, and to see Julia launch Gal Meets Glam Collection, a line of dresses, that basically sold out in minutes of launching, it’s incredible! I love my Gal Meets Glam dresses, they’re so well made, they’re gorgeous, they fit like a glove, and most of all, they carry so much meaning. I look at these dresses and see more than just pastel colored material with the occasional bow detailing. These dresses represent years of hard work, years of passion, years of two people working together, putting everything into their dream, their goal, and their relationship. And maybe you’re not a dress person, maybe you prefer jeans, and that’s fine, but either way you have to admit that’s pretty darn cool. (Understatement of the year!)
In case you’re confused, let me backtrack a little… Julia Engle started Gal Meets Glam as a hobby; with her and her boyfriend-now-husband’s hard work (Thomas is an amazing photographer, by the way) they were able to grow this hobby into a successful full-time business!! Julia directs her blog, Gal Meets Glam, and Thomas is right there along side of her! Did I mention Thomas is a great photographer? He should offer classes! Over the past year or so Julia had been hinting on Instagram that something big was in GMG’s future, and yeah, I’d say launching your own dress line on your own e-commerce site and at Nordstrom is a big deal! Don’t you think?
Now flashback to this past winter, I had the opportunity to meet Julia and Thomas at the GMGxFrye launch event in NYC. You bet I cleared my schedule to be there! Just kidding…if only I had a schedule that needed to be cleared! Anyway, I was there, I bought the boots (which I love!), and I got to meet two people that inspire me in so many ways! At the end of the day when it comes to living your passion, having a business with your significant other, and achieving your dreams (and then some!) Julia and Thomas check off all the boxes! So yeah, these dresses are nice to look at, but it’s also nice to know that maybe if you work really really really really hard, it might just pay off.
dress: Gal Meets Glam Collection • bag: Hat Attack • hat: similar here
*Most dresses, including this one are sold out in almost every size, however, you can add yourself to the waitlist in case the dress gets restocked, and then you’ll have a chance to get it! Also–GMG Collection will be launching new dresses each month, so just hang around a bit because they’re launching the May collection any day now!! Eek! Can’t wait!
