Something I don’t talk about enough on here, or at least in my opinion, is how my mom is constantly challenging me to push myself when styling outfits. In a good way! I would say my mom and I are co-creative directors here. She’s always suggesting new things to try (most of the time she’s even ahead of the trend!) or she’ll be tweaking outfits that I style myself. After hanging out with two fellow bloggers this weekend I realized how lucky I am to have parents that are so invested in my blog, but especially my mom with all of her input/feedback. Without her expertise I would never push myself to style an outfit like this one here! And that would be a shame because this outfit is so cute and unique!
To give you a behind the scenes look into Style Inherited, instead of spending our Friday/Saturday nights on the couch watching TV and sipping wine (ahhh my happy place), I’ve started using that time to plan my outfits out, which involves a lot of help from my mom. Basically I turn my whole room inside out trying countless outfit options on. I’m getting a pretty good cardio workout (ha, kidding!) from running back and forth between my closet and my mom’s closet, which is utilized quite often on Style Inherited! What am I going to do when I move out?! AH! Gosh I haven’t even thought about that yet. Guess I’m never leaving…. sorry Mom and Dad!
Anyway, you might not be able to tell by looking at this outfit, but I actually styled a spaghetti strap chambray romper from J.Crew with one of my favorite Club Monaco sweaters to make it a little more sensible to wear as we’re slowly transitioning into spring. Right now it’s still freezing in CT so I can’t even walk around dressed like this, but hopefully once we thaw out I can start wearing this romper with and without the sweater!
Let’s talk about why I love this outfit. First off, this romper is really comfy. It might not be the most flattering from behind (cringe), but the wide-leg pants are definitely on trend and cozy. I’m also loving the semi-cropped sweater over the romper to give the romper a completely different life! And as an added bonus, the pink and blue work well together! Let’s not forget though, this belt! The belt is from J.Crew and I love how I was able to style it tight, even though it’s made to be worn around your waist. I love this trick of being able to turn (almost) any belt into something you can throw around a dress or a skirt or, well, you get it. All the outfit details are below!
sweater: Club Monaco (on sale for $99!!) • jumpsuit: J.Crew (affordable option here) • clutch: J.Crew • sandals: Louise et Cie (old, but loving these!) • sunglasses: Tory Burch • belt: J.Crew
Things to Know:
I own so many pairs of Louise et Cie shoes, and for good reason- they are SO comfortable! I’ve actually walked around in these sandals all day long, and my feet didn’t bother me at all that evening or the next day. Louise et Cie is a brand that I can back 100% and more importantly, feel comfortable doing so. I’ve tested out so many of their heels and sandals and ahh! I keep coming back for more. Yay for happy feet, nay for my wallet. //
I’m wearing a 0 in the romper, but I could definitely size down to a 00, so if your’e looking to purchase, I suggest SIZING DOWN. Also…this jumpsuit comes with a tie belt, which I loved, but I wanted to style this jumpsuit in a way you wouldn’t expect, so that’s why I ditched the tie belt and opted for the J.Crew suede belt instead. //
My J.Crew belt is a size small and it fits well. It’s suede so I assume it will stretch over time, but I think it will still fit me fine.
