Happy Earth Month! In honor of April being Earth Month, I’ve teamed up again with Perfect Packaging to spread awareness about flexible packaging products! You might remember last year how I shared several sustainability tips along with a pretty epic breakfast spread (definitely check it out here if you haven’t already!). With Easter right around the corner, I figured it was the perfect time to encourage you to choose flexible packaging products when possible.
Easter is one of Ranger’s favorite holidays. Maybe it’s because Ranger knows she’ll wake up to a HUGE basket with tons of treats and chew toys or because we put out an epic Easter Egg Hunt for her on our front lawn. Either way, I love that I can feel good about celebrating with Ranger knowing that I’m only purchasing products packaged in flexible packaging.
If you need a refresher on “flexible packaging,” it’s pretty simple! Flexible Packaging is a package or any part of a package made of flexible materials that, when filled or closed, can change in shape. Flexible packaging can be constructed using a variety of materials such as paper, plastic, film, foil, etc. As you can see, it’s common for dog treats and chews to be packaged in resealable flexible packaging. Resealable flexible packaging is perhaps the best kind of flexible packaging since it not only is more convenient but also extends the life of the product inside.
From personal experience, I exclusively purchase Ranger’s treats and chews that are packaged in flexible packaging since it takes up less cabinet space, it’s easier to store, and I can seal them back up to avoid any smell. Pictured here are some of Ranger’s favorite flexible packaging products!
Other added benefits that flexible packaging offers are its lighter weight helps reduce the amount of energy required to transport. On the production end, flexible packaging requires less water and energy to manufacture compared to other types of packaging. Yay for less waste!
In keeping with the reduced waste theme, I’d love to challenge you to be mindful this Easter by sharing with you a few tips of my own!
Tip #1 // Opt for products packaged in flexible packaging over other choices.
Tip #2 // Save your Easter eggs to reuse year after year! Not only does this save you time and money, but it’s also much more sustainable!
Tip #3 // Upcycle your resealable flexible packaging bags and use them as storage bags for your Easter basket filler to save it for next year! I’m talking about that shredded crinkle paper that helps pull an Easter basket together. I always save gift wrap/gift packaging and have a whole closet full of it! An easy way to store the shredded crinkle paper is in a large resealable flexible packaging bag!
We’ll actually be out in Colorado for Easter, and I still haven’t decided whether we’ll be doing Ranger’s Easter Egg hunt at home, or while we’re out there with her Golden Retriever cousins! Either way, stay tuned for those shenanigans on IG stories featuring Ranger’s flexible packaging products! And before you go, I’d love to know what are some of your favorite flexible packaging products? Let me know in the comments below!
