Back when we started the house hunting process, having a front porch was on my list of “must haves.” There’s something about a front porch that says “welcome home” in an instantaneous, wholehearted way. If a picture’s worth a thousand words, then a front porch is worth a thousand warm, fuzzy feelings. While I haven’t spent nearly as much time out on my front porch as I would like (yet!), I plan on changing that this fall!! (Especially now that I’ve styled my front porch to coastal perfection!!) Keep scrolling for my coastal front porch reveal featuring decor from Annie Selke.
It was quite the dream come true to partner with Annie Selke on this project. I’ve always admired Annie Selke’s decor. The brand does a great job designing classic decor pieces, each with its own personality to light up a room. In this case, my front porch decor feels like a best friend who is always there for you and knows exactly how to comfort you. Maybe that’s weird, but I’m seriously excited to spend some quality time with my coastal front porch this fall!!
Apart from the fact that this front porch is super spacious, the centerpiece is truly the porch swing. I was so thrilled to find Dash & Albert rugs on Annie Selke’s website that match the color of my porch swing (& front door) perfectly! With the porch swing being the focal point of the porch, I planned my styling and decor around it and now I’m going to teach you how to do the same!!
If you’re looking for tips on how to style your front porch swing, I’ve got you covered! I wanted to keep my coastal front porch decor simple, yet cozy. A great tip to achieve simplicity when styling a space (or in this case, a front porch swing!) is sticking with a limited color palette. Here you’ll notice the space features blues, tans, and white. It’s timeless and perfectly represents the coastal lifestyle we’re so lucky to have here!
Tip #2 – Textures bring out personality in a space, so don’t be afraid to play around with them! These Sawyer Indoor/Outdoor Pillows have beautiful fringe detailing that gives the pillow a faded, vintage feel. Position the stripes horizontally or vertically, it’s up to you!! I paired those indigo pillows with the Natural Rope Round Turn Indoor/Outdoor Pillows. I’m happy to report back that all of the Annie Selke pillows I own are super durable!
Tip #3 – Add layers to your space for a more complete look. Do you ever try to style a space and you take a step back and think, huh, this just doesn’t look like what I see in magazines? SAME! Until I realized that I wasn’t adding depth to my space. Finding ways to add layers to your space is a great way to get that complete feel. With my cozy, coastal front porch swing, it was as simple as draping this beautiful pom-pom throw blanket over one of the Indoor/Outdoor Poufs. And as for the other pouf, I added some extra hospitality to my front porch with a woven tray for beverages and snacks.
Tip #4 – Extend the live of your front porch! This is specifically for people who live in areas like New England that get chilly come fall. A basket of extra throw blankets goes a long way! My exact Rugby Stripe Charcoal Throws are unfortunately out of stock, BUT these are so similar and available to ship Oct 25th!! Pictured below is this fun Bauble Chenille Ivory Throw. It’s a new fan favorite around here and makes its rounds throughout the rooms in the house!
Alright, my fall front porch decor is still a work in progress (you can never have too many pumpkins!), but I really was too excited to wait to share it with you! These muted, coral mums are what dreams are made of! (Okay, my dreams- at least…) They pair perfectly with the blue tones on my front porch. If you’re looking to have your fall front porch decor lean more coastal, opt for white pumpkins instead of orange ones! These mini white pumpkins make my heart so happy! I might paint a few blue… what do you think??
Generally with fall decor I try to keep it classy and timeless with a minimal approach focused around natural pieces. You won’t be finding any spooky Halloween decorations at my house (not that I don’t love admiring those around the neighborhood), they’re just not my style. Instead, as you can see I’m sticking to the basics: pumpkins, mums, and some hay bales! I’m thinking of clipping some of my sea grass around my property along with some dried hydrangeas to add a little bit more of that coastal vibe to my fall front porch decor. If you’ve done this before- I’d love to hear your thoughts/advice!!
I 100% love how I was able to bring my coastal-inspired front porch to live with these Annie Selke pieces. In the future, I plan on doing some painting and power washing! Did you know that there is a significance to painting your front porch ceiling light blue? Also known historically as “haint blue,” the light blue paint was thought to ward off evil spirits. Some say that the light blue deters insects, which would be an added bonus!! I’ll have to report back to you on this…
In addition to brightening the front porch with some ceiling paint, the entire exterior of our house needs to be painted. I also plan on having the front porch power washed and floors sealed. Again, some much needed TLC! And lastly (at least for now) consider yourself the first to know about a SUPER COOL TOP SECRET front porch project that I’m pretty sure has never been done before! Let’s just say, you’ll be running on over when you see this project complete…
Let me know in the comments below!! Stay tuned for my Fall Bucket List later this week!
