Happy Friday Friends! While YOU might be thinking about the weekend, Fridays for me mean business, which is exactly why I’m sharing today’s sponsored post, brought to you by Basic Invite!! Spoiler alert- Basic Invite is awesome!
It has almost been a year since I started Style Inherited. Wow can you believe it?! As Style Inherited continues to grow, I realized I needed to finally get myself some business cards! Let me just say, if you’re one of those people with the mindset that business cards are outdated (cough, cough, my mom), you’d be wrong! Since receiving my business cards from Basic Invite, I’ve been finding myself handing them out constantly. It’s not like I’m going up to random people on the street saying “hey, take this!”, but I’m genuinely being asked by businesses I’m looking to partner with, other influencers, and people who are interested to learn more about my blog, if I have one. Lucky for me, now I’m able to say YES, and hand them my amazing business card with confidence!
Not to brag, but at the BlogHer conference I got a lot of people’s business cards and mine by far looked the best! Mine were also the most unique and creative. (Translation: out of the hundreds of business cards that these brands received, mine made an impression and stood out among the rest!) Yay me! Honestly, I was really stressed that my business cards wouldn’t be perfect. Maybe I would miss a typo, maybe my picture would look weird, and worst of all, maybe everyone would look at them and think “well this is just a stupid format.” I’m relieved to say that none of those things have happened so far, and I don’t foresee them being a problem in the future either. Thank goodness Basic Invite makes the process super easy! They even offer a typo check service if you’re worried you missed something!
There are so many well-designed business card templates that Basic Invite has for you to use. I was able to find the perfect template for my business card needs, but if you need something really out of the box you can customize your own vertical or landscape ones! The exact template I used is linked here, and I was able to customize it completely to fit my needs! This might seem silly, but I really wanted to streamline my business cards to my blog by using the same color that you see in my blog’s menu bar. Basic Invite has basically an unlimited color selection, so matching my accent color on my business cards to my blog was no problem! And it looks just as good as I hoped!
I should mention that there are also so many paper options for the business cards! I went with the signature matte and am really happy with the look of them! The signature matte is a sturdy paper, but not too thick (so I’m able to carry plenty in my wallet without having my wallet explode!). The horizontal look that I chose for my business cards is perfect for anyone who wants to make a statement along the lines of “I’m creative, I’m outside the box, and I’m different.” It definitely shouts “look at me!” in the best of ways! Obviously as a blogger this unique format was perfect for me. Photography and blogging kind of go hand-in-hand, and if you’re a photographer, then you’ll definitely want to check out Basic Invite’s photographer business cards , my favorite of the options is probably this one right here!
Another unique way to stand out with your business cards is by using a vintage design/template. These vintage business cards will without a doubt leave an impression with whoever you’re handing them out to. It’s kind of hard to choose a favorite option here, but I love the antique framing around the horizontal photo with this template here.
So now that we’ve got the right aesthetic down (this was the easy part for me!), let’s talk about the content! Content is super important here! You don’t want to have your business card overloaded with info to the point that it’s just a headache to look at, but you also don’t want to leave something super important off of it. That would be embarrassing, right?
I obviously opted for the “as minimal as possible” effect. And it worked! Obviously I had to have my blog’s name front and center because my blog’s name is my brand. I wanted to highlight myself as well though, which is why I italicized my name was and used a different font from the rest of the card. It makes me stand out without overpowering the name of my blog. Under my name was the easy part, all I really need anyone to know about me (at first glance) are: my blog URL, my Instagram handle, and my email. Or was I missing something? I felt like there had to be more information I was missing…right?! Ah, well! I came up with the perfect solution: blank. space. Yes, you heard me right! I somehow found a way to have blank space on my business card (which is low-key genius!). I’ve received so many comments on how smart this idea was! Now after meeting me, brands can jot a few key things about our conversation to remember me better. And if I ever want to give my phone number out to a company or my address for them to send me products, I can easily pencil it in below my email. Again, genius! Definitely consider doing this when you’re designing your own business cards because it has really been so useful!
