Happy Fall Y’all! I’m not sure when summer officially ends, but I always feel like fall kind of starts the moment September hits (whether I like it or not!). In my ideal world, we would just have endless summers up here in CT. Anyone else with me?! I mean, I do love Autumn. A lot. My birthday is in October, the leaves look like my hair color, and the weather is warm enough for t-shirts on some days, but cool enough for sweaters at night. I’m not sure I know anyone who doesn’t like autumn… am I right?
Last autumn I set some very vague seasonal oriented intentions and I kind of loved it! So I decided to share mine on the blog to hopefully inspire you guys to try this out! I like calling them intentions rather than goals because intentions feels like something I’m looking forward to, rather than a goal, which I always feel like carries lots of pressure. Ultimately, I’m hoping these intentions guide me to enjoy this season as much as possible for all it has to offer! I definitely let summer fly by and I barely spent any time at the beach, which is SO unlike me! Ugh, I’m still salty about it. (Ha, did you get that? That was me trying to be punny…)

Exercise with the weather- On warmer days, either try to exercise indoors in the morning while it’s still chilly, and try for a long walk during the middle of the day OR opt entirely for an outdoor workout instead of my usual classes.
Go for a long, hike somewhere new- Maybe Bear Mountain? Any suggestions?
Take a day trip to the coast- Considering Rhode Island or maybe New London, CT?
Road trip to Vermont for the weekend and stay in a B&B- I can’t remember the last time I stayed in a little bed and breakfast. They’re just so whimsical! I’m really hoping to do this (maybe even more than once!).
Go apple picking followed by apple pie making! Last year I made 5 apple pies, 5 weeks in a row!
Over indulge in roasted root vegetables. Ha! Am I the only one who loves me some good roasted root veggies?
Try out blue light glasses- I need to do more research on this, but it seems like more and more people are saying blue light is bad. Makes sense! Too much of anything is never a good thing! That’s why I’m finally getting a pair of blue light glasses and protecting my eyes from eye strain.
Get back into my healthy eating groove. I’ve spent the past two months post sugar detox eating whatever I wanted. That stops now! I’m so disappointed in myself that I’m back to my old habits. This season is all about moderation and mindfulness!
Visit some old and new vineyards. Shoutout to all the amazing vineyards I visited a few years ago out on Long Island! I’m itching to get back to Bedell and a few others!
Invest in neutrals that will last for seasons to come. To be completely honest, over the summer I bought some stuff that I’m now looking back at wondering, why did I get this?! I mean, I LOVE the stuff I bought, but if I’d just found a similar item in a natural it’d be something I could wear way more often. So I’m committing to neutrals for any additions I make to my autumn wardrobe. (This is going to be a tough one!)
Send thank you notes the day after- I’m usually very good with thank you notes. I typically get them out within a week, but every once in a while I completely drop the ball. This season I’m really going to do my best to stay on top of my thank you note game!
See a chiropractor- I’ve been meaning to try a chiropractor for the longest time now. Without going into it, my back has been bothering me for months and I kind of just ignore it. I’m open to new experiences this season and hoping that this one will be fruitful!
Throw away old bathing suits- You totally know what I’m talking about here, and don’t pretend you don’t for a second! I’m talking about those bathing suits that are just a little too small or a little too saggy. That you think you’re going to wear again because you loved it at one point, but now it’s not the same so it just sits in the bottom of your drawer all summer. Yep those! They’re gone!
I have sooo many puppy related intentions! Here are a few of my biggest ones though:
Potty train my puppy before October- (is it called potty training?) I don’t even know… this is a bad start!
Hit the ground running with my puppy- Start good habits from day one and keep up with them even if it means more work.
Incorporate my puppy into my experiences– I really want my puppy to be part of my family. I want her to be there every step of the way. I’ve spent such a long time making sure now was the right time for me to get a puppy and it is. I’m not going to have her sitting at home by herself. And this is the perfect season and perfect weather for her to be joining in on all of our activities!
